TFS Power tools
If you have not heard Microsoft has released the new TFS power tools yesterday.
Why am I telling you?
Well I recently wrote and passed the TFS Admin exam (70-512), and one of the prescribed guides is the TFS admin guide.
Yeah and?
Well if you ever read the admin or install guides you know that there is A LOT of detail in them. Specifically in the admin guide there is a HUGE chunk on the backup and restore of TFS, SharePoint and Reporting Services using concepts such synced backups using marked transactions. They even give SQL scripts that you can modify and run on the databases, with details on how to setup SQL job to create these marked transactions to align the possible restore.
Well one of the cool new features packaged in the latest power tools is… you guessed it… a new component that does all this for you!
There is 2 days I’ll never get back :)
So if you using TFS in any form, I really suggest you go and get the power tools today!
